Jimmie Heags Jr. has a master's degree in psychotherapy and hold a license in both school and professional clinical counseling (LPCC). He has worked with school age children and their families for the last 20 years. In his present position, Jimmie serves as a member of the District Mobile Response Team (DMRT) for Intermediate District 287. In that capacity, his responsibilities include providing training and development as well mental health crisis prevention and intervention. Moreover, Jimmie teaches and leads educational staff on how to make individualized accommodations for young people impacted by trauma and other mental health related issues that impede their education.
Jimmie also works as an Adjunct Instructor for Adler Graduate School where he provides supervision for students in the School Counseling Program. He is a member of the NAACP’s Behavior Health and Wellness Committee (BHWC), and Restorative Justice for People of Color (RJPOC). He is an annual presenter at the Minnesota Association for Children with Mental Health (MACMH) annual conference as well as a co-presenter at this year’s National Alliance Mental on Illness (NAMI) annual conference. Lastly, Jimmie L. Heags is a candidate to become a License Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) for the state of Minnesota in 2018.
